Shooting our music video part 2

Today, we was in the TV studio shooting our music video. It was completely performance based and we had lots of fun shooting it. It was a complete disaster the fact that we had to take all the instruments from the music room to the TV studio which is upstairs. The instruments were very heavy so we struggled a lot and we also had to take it back downstairs. Ismail who was meant to be the bass player could not make it because he had an emergency and he let us know from the night before. However it was too much of a short notice so we couldn't find another new member. We decided that my partner Larisa would be in the music video playing the bass because we did not have anyone else. We went to the costume room with Josh who was in the department and I picked up a blazer, shirt and trousers for Larisa to wear because our theme was that everyone had to wear a suit. Luckily there was a few pieces in the costume studio so it was not a problem. Whilst Larisa was in the scene for the long establishing shot, I was recording it. However during close ups Larisa also shot the music video whilst I was helping with the lighting. When I was recording the close ups she was helping out with the lighting. 

When we first got into the studio the lighting was bad, after fixing it it looked okay but boring. In the TV studio we could not use different colour lights like red and blue etc so we had to work with what we had. I thought turning the lights on and off would add more energy and I think it ended up looking very good because it looked bookey yet clear.

Shooting our music video part 1

We have faced many difficulties and one of them was the fact that we was not allowed to use the theatre on Monday 24th October. I got a call on I believe Friday 21st October from Tom about the fact that we will not be able to come in on Monday to use the theatre as planned because there was going to be no staff. Also we could not use the theatre because something else was going on. He suggested that we use the TV studio instead and that we come in on Tuesday to shoot the stage performance. Although the changes were fine for me and Larisa, after sharing the bad news with the other band members, some of the members were not able to go out on Tuesday to different locations because they had other commitments. 

Jack who is out lead singer said that he was free and we decided that we do the location shoots on Monday instead. However, we could not travel to different locations because he had to go elsewhere with his girlfriend after the shoots. We decided we would go to  Victoria Park as it is similar to Hollow Ponds because it has a lake. This would be the best option as we could have different scenes in different locations of the park. We met up at 12pm next to the statue and started the shoots. The monument was the best place to shoot because it looks very vintage and the close ups we shot of the statues were very disturbing and scary which compliments our genre. Although we thought there would not be a lot of people because of the cold weather, there were quite a lot of people and this is why we did not shoot in the skateboarding area. We shot next to the monument, next to the lake, on the ground and in some area with bricks. I think overall the shoots were okay but what was really good was Jack's acting. He had lots of emotion when lip syncing the song and he was very comfortable. The fact that he put in lots of effort really meant a lot which again made me happy because he is the main singer.

Team Meeting

Today we had a group meeting, me and Larisa made final decisions about the timings on 24th October. From 10-12 we will be in college tv studio filming the stage performance. From 1 till 2 we will be in Hollow ponds, and from 3 till 5 we will film in Victoria Park. Also from 6 till 7pm we will be in Greenwich Foot Tunnel. 

Also I asked the group about whether or not everyone is free as we dont want any problems about people not turning up.

These are the talent release for our 4 actors. Amber will be playing electric guitar, Ismail will be playing bass guitar. Thet will be the drum player and Jack will be our lead singer.

Recently,we have had another group meeting where we started to put our story boards together. On the sheet we did not only take down what was happening but we also noted down when we will have the special effects and where we will have motion sickness.

Group Work

Today we had a group meeting and decided that finding band members should be the first step. We have found our Electric Guitar player, Bass guitar player, and our drum player. Now, we need to find two more people who will be the keyboard player and the lead singer. We will have people from different ethnic groups because our music video is discrimination free.

These are the props we will be using when shooting our music video. Clothing will be black and simple things such as shirts and trousers, however in one the scenes the lead singer will be wearing a black suit. This will be good because its something different and it suits and also challenges the genre.
