Ariana Grande-Problem Analysis
From the beginning we notice that the cutting rate of the scenes is very fast which immediately makes us assume that the song is energetic. For the background in one of Ariana's scenes the background was projected onto the wall and it is similar to hypnotising videos. The projected background is black and white and it looks vintage. There is green screen so that later on when edited other backgrounds could be added and in this case Iggy was in front of a very colourful moving background. There is also a split screen when Iggy is singing and this made everything more interesting and added a fast pace to the song. When transitioning to other scenes most of the time wipe transition is used. There are many zoom in and outs throughout the video from the beginning eg when Ariana is dancing, the camera is zoomed in and it zooms out in a very fast pace and shows the other dancers and the surroundings too. There is a bird's eye view when Ariana is on the rotating platform and this makes her seem promiscuous and seems like she needs the audiences attention. There is a black and white colour scheme on most of the scenes, also the baby pink colour that is used makes Ariana seem child like and also makes the whole music video seem cute. There is also added retro filter that you would see on old TV's and this makes the music video look vintage. The are also match cuts with arms raised. This is a performance based music video and narrative too. There is also dance choreography and the moves are very jumpy and active.
